Quickstart
Build and run your first flow in ottom8.
This walks through building a minimal chat flow: an input, a model, and an output, wired together and run from the Playground.
1. Create a flow
From the dashboard, select New Flow. You land on an empty canvas.
2. Add components
Open the component sidebar and drag these three onto the canvas:
- Chat Input — accepts text from the Playground.
- Language Model — any configured model provider.
- Chat Output — returns the result to the Playground.
3. Connect them
Drag from the Chat Input output handle to the Language Model input handle, then from the Language Model output to the Chat Output input. A flow is just a graph of these connections — see Components for how handles and types work.
4. Configure the model
Click the Language Model component and choose a provider and model. If no provider is configured yet, add credentials in the component's settings panel.
5. Run it
Open the Playground (top right) and send a message. The message flows through Chat Input → Language Model → Chat Output, and the reply streams back in the chat panel.
Next steps
- Skip the manual wiring and describe the flow you want to the ottom8 Assistant instead.
- See Components for everything else you can add to a flow.
